MESSAGES

Message of Luz Villanueva, Chairperson of MAWADI (capture message only)

Message of Joel Tayabin, Chairman of HALIK (capture message only)

Message of Pastor James Masadaw

Matthew Chapter 7, verses 24-26:

Place your house, and projects on the rock.

Amen.

Message of Philip Sosara

At maraming salamat.

Message from the Alyansa Laan sa Kaunlaran at Kalikasan Laban sa Kahirapan (ALAS-KA).

Message from Martiniano G. Regis, CREDO Sablayan (Closing)

Good morning po sa MAWADI AT HALIK.

(this was spoken in tagalog but dsirectly written in english)

You are here to witness the opening of the livelihood projects of you group/sector. For truth you are still “on-bat”, and the ball still to be thrown. You don’t know the speed and power of the ball that the MAWADI and HALIK will bat. If you can operate say a year or 3 year failure or success event you will analyze and plan to improve. If it’s a failure then definitely another set will be on bat. If it is a success then definitely it’s a home run, a score for good, but you have to move and plan more.

Even the consumer store of MAWADI survived the critical event of a being a fetus. At least even if there is no one to hold for, the organization managed to be born with the effort of surviving incorporators who are the current officers.

Maintain your organization and make your project big and successful. If it grows big, many of your members will find work and production by themselves. Always practice the nobility in business and humility in service, which are the essence organization.

We always exist as partner. And we thanked the LORD for this event. We pray for the health of everybody so that we can move for more blessings.

A day skills training on banana products diversification and good manufacturing practices for Sweetened Banana Chips, Salted Banana Chips and Banana Catsup was conducted on May 24, 2010 by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to the Manamlay Womens Association for Development Inc (MAWADI) of San Agustin, Sablayan (sector member of ALAS-KA), with 28 memberships.

The DTI technical expertise and services was accessed by Martiniano Regis as part of his/Intex-CREDO 2010 program on social preparation and capability building of the community/sectors in Barangay San Agustin.

San Agustin is one of the three host Barangays of the mining tenement of Mindoro Nickel Project (Pag-asa and Villa Cerveza are the other two host barangays). The Barangay LGU of San Agustin already had their resolution supporting MNP.

The DTI technical personnel of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro who conducted the training were Ms. Maritess Q. Cuevas and Ms. Divina E. Labalan. The DTI emphasized that the important things along with the technical knowledge in banana products making are cleanliness (facilities, tools, materials and person), safety and product freshness.

The training venue is in-situ, at the staff house of the Intex at San Agustin. The trainers effectively transferred the technology of making quality banana chips and banana catsup via technical instructions, demonstration and actual making by the pax themselves. The women’s organization of San Agustin had already made banana chips with there own ideas at some drawbacks. The production process and the quality of products are now improved with the ideas and technology from DTI. Their next step to proceed with their small scale entrepreneur is market study (to include packaging and product name). The markets they are targeting are Sablayan, Batangas and Manila. Their products will be displayed and sold initially in the MAWADI Consumer store at San Agustin, Sablayan.

The training was supported by Intex-MNP as part of the social preparations of the Mindoro Nickel Project. The activity fulfills one of the objectives of the corporate social responsibility of the Intex Resources Philippines Inc., and the portion of section 134-136 of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (R.A.) 7942, the Philippine Mining Act of 1995, i.e., community development to include skills training, alternative and sustainable livelihood.
